Coffee made with Love

One Cup of Coffee - Bob Marley

One Cup of Coffee
Than I'll go

Though I just dropped by
To let you know
That I'm Leaving you tomorrow
I'll cause you know more sorrow

One cup of coffee than I'll go

I brought the money
Like the lawyer said to do
But it won't replace the heartaches I caused you
It won't take the place of loving you
I know!

So, One Cup of Coffee
Than I'll go!
Tell the kids I came last night
And kissed them while they slept

Make my coffee sweet and warm
Just the way you used to lie in my arms

I brought the money
Like the lawyer said to do
But it won't replace the heartaches I caused you

It won't take the place of loving you
I know!

you're the cream in my coffee

Process: "The Essence of Coffee", pt 3

Hail the mighty coffee bean

A somewhat silly article on how expensive coffee rituals might trick you into thinking that expensive is better:

I scoff at people who pay a hundred dollars for a speaker wire, or who are convinced that they need a $4,000 dollar PC to send e-mail to grandma and read Funky Winkerbean online, but show me a $50 pound of coffee beans and I'm sore tempted. In the past 10 years I've gone from drinking whatever my employers provided in the break room -- with cream-mimicking, nondairy dust product, no less -- to carefully grinding my beans with a burr grinder and brewing them in a French press for exactly four minutes. There are Cirque du Soleil acts that are less intricate than my morning cup of joe.

And it goes on, just here...

Enjoy!

Disclaimer: Written by a highly caffeinated mammal.

The 23rd Cup

Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake in green pastures;
It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz.
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,
I'll fear no Equal for thou art with me;
Thy cream and thy flavorings they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez.
Thou anointest my days with vigor; my mug runneth over.
Surely flavor and aroma shall follow me all the days of my life
and I will dwell in the House of Maxwell forever.

Amen!

Celos
pudo el amor ser distinto
redes
trampa mortal en mi camino
y en un café , un café de ciudad
me contaste otra vez tu destino

Celos
celos en suelo argentino
fiebre
y mi ilusión que se deshizo
mientras te burlas de mí en tu canción
no me puedo librar del hechizo

Nubes
nubes de sal y de hastío
dudas
pago por ver lo que he perdido
la capital te atrapó, te embriagó
en el triste ritual del olvido.

Mmm
pudo el amor ser distinto
mmm
crudo final discepoliano
y en un café, un café de verdad
cayó el último acorde del piano

CoffeeHouse

CoffeeHouse, originally uploaded by *Athar*

[...]

How is it that nostalgia is such a strong feeling? I would have thought that it was a soft, almost nice little white feeling you could brush away with the back of your hand.. I'm discovering that it is a stone-hearted bitch that gets a grip so strong it leaves your whole body bruised, your eyes sore with tears and the bitterest of tastes in your mouth.

Cup of coffee

Everything's revolving about coffee tonight, and there's the perfect lyrics for it..

You tell me you don't love me
over a cup of coffee
And I just have to look away
A million miles between us
Planets crashing to dust
I just let it fade away
I'm walking empty streets
hoping we might meet
I see your car parked on the road
The light on at your window
I know for sure that you're home
But I just have to pass on by
So no of course we can't be friends
Not while I'm still this obsessed
I guess I always knew the score
This is how our story ends
I smoke your brand of cigarettes
And pray that you might give me a call
I lie around in bed all day just staring at the walls
Hanging round bars at night wishing I had never been born
And give myself to anyone who wants to take me home
So no of course we can't be friends
Not while I still feel like this
I guess I always knew the score
This is where our story ends
You left behind some clothes
My belly summersaults when I pick them off the floor
My friends all say they're worried
I'm looking far too skinny
I've stopped returning all their calls
And no of course we can't be friends
Not while I'm still so obsessed
I want to ask where I went wrong
But don't say anything at all
It took a cup of coffee
To prove that you don't love me ..

Funny note on coffee addiction

It isn't even merely philosophical, but it's funny:

You know you are addicted to coffee if

-You grind your coffee beans in your mouth.

-You sleep with your eyes open.

-You have to watch videos in fast-forward.

-The only time you're standing still is during an earthquake.

-You can take a picture of yourself from ten feet away without using the timer.

-You've worn out your third pair of tennis shoes this week.

-Your eyes stay open when you sneeze.

-You chew on other people's fingernails.

-The nurse needs a scientific calculator to take your pulse.

-You're so jittery that people use your hands to blend their
margaritas.

-You can type sixty words per minute with your feet.

-You can jump-start your car without cables.

-You don't sweat, you percolate.

-You walk twenty miles on your treadmill before you realize it's not plugged in.

-You forget to unwrap candy bars before eating them.

-You've built a miniature city out of little plastic stirrers.

-People get dizzy just watching you.

-Instant coffee takes too long.

-You channel surf faster without a remote.

-You have a picture of your coffee mug on your coffee mug.

-You can outlast the Energizer bunny.

-You short out motion detectors.

-You don't even wait for the water to boil anymore.

-Your nervous twitch registers on the Richter scale.

-You help your dog chase its tail.

-You soak your dentures in coffee overnight.

-Your first-aid kit contains two pints of coffee with an I.V. hookup.

-You ski uphill.

-You get a speeding ticket even when you're parked.

-You answer the door before people knock.

-You haven't blinked since the last lunar eclipse.

Departure Gate Coffee

If I try to put in a nutshell the last couple of days I can only come up with departure gates. I am moving to Paris on Sunday, after six months in London, and it is hard to realise that I probably won't see again most of the people I became friends with -and sort of attached myself to- here. I'm among the last ones to leave, and I have therefore been having quick coffees with everybody to say goodbye and share the last cigarette, the last coffee, the last moments, a final hug.

Said goodbye to Moritz, my austrian drinking buddy, over a cappuchino in a very small place on his road, a café that only had 5 tables and I am already looking forward to see him in Berlin. I haven't gone back to Berlin since I left on the morning of March the 1st 2002, and now that I am finally ready I can't wait. Sharon came around to have a coffee and say goodbye as well, but I had already given Tom his cafetière back- mine broke a couple of weeks ago and he lent me his- so no coffee this time, but it had a merry note. And the list could go on forever, only highlighting how hard it actually is to part with the last six months of my life.

I went to see London, like a tourist tour with Baptiste yesterday, we had a coffee in the Café Nero in Kensington and we talked about how we have evolved, how it is necessary to feel the evolution in your life. It reminded me of the conclusion i got to when I turned 14: Nada nunca volverá a ser igual, y todo va a seguir cambiando- nothing will ever be the same, and everything will keep on changing.

Flavour of the day: Bitter dark small cup

Of why I am doing this...

...even if there doesn't seem to be much point in it.

This is not about sharing my most intimate secrets- they wouldn't be secrets if i did, it is not about keeping a journal- mine is well kept somewhere else, it is just about sharing the things that make a difference for me. Since my life inevitably revolves around coffee, I'll write about the coffees I have, on my own, with different people, in the morning, after lunch, midafternoon, evening ones, the coffees in the early hours in the morning, when I have to stay awake, and all the things that come with them, thoughts, conversations, moods..

"Having a coffee" is more than just getting a caffeine dose most of the time. Going for coffee has a hidden implication, sharing a moment over a hot cup, were it just a quick cigarette conversation or an hours long chat in a nice place. There are thousands of different possible coffees: needy coffees, surreal coffees, cosy coffees, let's-solve-this coffee, happy-to-see you again coffees, quick, intense, flavoured, we-need-to-talk coffees, sunday morning with newspaper and in pyjamas coffees, thank-god-I-finally-got-here/home coffees..

And all this moments that you can collect are what I am going to write about, I want to share with you my collection of moments, passing instants that would otherwise get lost in my memory and would never exist for you. Writing is a way of remembering, of fixing thoughts and impressions in your mind. You are therefore welcome to stare from the other side of the mirror, like in Alice in Wonderland, and invited to join my hypercaffeinated life.. over a coffee.

Flavour of the day: Creative cappuchino- hot and cosy
